Nii Ayaafio I
Story by Nii Amon
The Founder of GaDangme Youth Association and Oblatiamantse, Nii Ayaafio I, has descended heavily on “recalcitrant Asantes” for their insistence on riding a palanquin to the funeral of the father of Executive Chairman of the JOSPONG GROUP, Joseph Siaw Agyapong, at the Statehouse in Accra.
Ga chiefs, whose homeland is Accra, reportedly, asked the arriving Asante entourage to refrain from riding the palanquin as it is against customs and due protocol. Refusal by the latter to heed the call nearly led to a confrontation.
According to him, such act cannot be accepted in Ashanti region.
“let me send a strong caution to Accra residents and visitors alike to respect traditions of the Ga land even as efforts are made towards strengthening mutual ties for peaceful co-existence and progress” he warned.
The Asantes must know their limits in terms of boundaries, he further warned.
Ga state people are now treated like a village’s and but not royals that protect the dignity of these community.
Nii Tetteh Ayarfio was optimistic that he and his elders would do all possible means to ensure that things stabilize.
