With ‘$ome $exy 4 U’, Drake is set to Tie With Taylor Swift & Jay Z to achieve this Billboard milestone

Drake is on the verge of cementing his place among music legends, thanks to his latest album release. The Canadian rapper and singer is projected to score his 14th No. 1 album as a soloist with his collaborative project, ‘$ome $exy 4 U,’ created alongside fellow artist PartyNextDoor.

This achievement, according to Chart Data, will tie him with hip-hop icon Jay-Z and pop superstar Taylor Swift for the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. This is a significant milestone, placing Drake in the company of two of the biggest names in music.

This accomplishment also brings Drake closer to another record, leaving him just five chart-topping albums behind The Beatles’ all-time record of 19 No. 1 albums. ‘$ome $exy 4 U’ marks Drake’s first full-length project since his highly publicized and acrimonious feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. That rivalry produced the hit track ‘Not Like Us,’ which subsequently became the center of a legal dispute between Drake and his label, Universal Music Group (UMG).

In his legal petition against UMG, Drake alleged that the label failed to prevent the release of a diss track containing injurious falsehoods about him. He further claimed that UMG engaged in unethical practices, including the use of bots and other artificial methods, to inflate the song’s streaming numbers on Spotify, thereby boosting its perceived popularity. This lawsuit brought to light the behind-the-scenes machinations of the music industry and the intense competition between artists.

2025 is expected to be a landmark year for Drake. He was recently recognized by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) as the highest-selling rap artist of 2024. He also holds the distinction of being the second best-selling artist across all genres for 2024, surpassed only by Taylor Swift, who claimed the top spot for the third consecutive year and the fifth time overall in her career. These accolades underscore Drake’s immense popularity and commercial success in the global music market.
