WATCH: Qing Madi Debuts On Colors X Studios With ‘Favorite Psycho’

Kicking off the new year, the “American Love” singer has delivered a spellbinding performance of her new single titled ‘Favorite Psycho’ on the Colors stage.

Lively guitar lines open the instrumentation of the track accompanied by hypnotic Afrobeats percussion and silky R&B harmonies to assist Qing Madi deliver the heartfelt performance.

Her evocative voice that glides over the instrumentation as she sings about the emotional turbulence of love, betrayal, and the enduring hope of reconciliation is not one to ignore.

Qing Madi’s debut on COLORs comes a few weeks after she announced that her debut album “The Blue Print” would be arriving on the 31st of this month.

Born Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, Qing Madi is a Nigerian singer and songwriter whose music masterfully fuses Afrobeat, R&B, and pop into a refreshing and vibrant sound.

Her early singles like ‘See Finish’ and ‘Why’ and eventually her the standout eponymous EP ‘Qing Madi’ gained her recognition as one of the most exciting voices in African music to watch out for. The body of work showcased her emotive vocals and catchy melodies. Last year, Qing Madi dropped the deluxe version of the EP, and it housed additional tracks, including a remix of ‘Vision’ with Chloe Bailey, as well as new tracks ‘YBIL (You Believe in Love)’ with Kizz Daniel and ‘Sins For U’.

Qing Madi also had a sold out show in Uganda, further positioning her as a force to be reckoned with.

A Colors Show, as it is popularly known, features musicians with unique sounds from all over the globe. The stage is minimalistic, featuring the artist, a mic, and a single-toned color background. There are no other instruments, bands, or dancers; just beautiful acoustics that let the artist’s vocals shine. “In the context of an increasingly fragmented and saturated scene, we seek to provide clarity and calm, offering a minimalistic stage to shine a spotlight on the artists and give them the opportunity to present their music without distraction. All colors, no genres,” colours explained their aesthetic. A colors show, opens a new chapter in Qing Madi’s journey with this one.
