WAEC Condemns Distribution Of Fake Exam Materials on Facebook

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed deep concern over the dissemination of counterfeit questions and answers for the ongoing WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023, on various social media platforms, particularly Facebook and WhatsApp.

The Council has categorically stated that these materials are fictitious and warns candidates, parents, and school authorities to be vigilant and refrain from falling victim to these scams.

In a press release issued today, May 23, 2023, the Secretariat of WAEC emphasized that unscrupulous individuals are engaging in these illicit practices solely to enrich themselves at the expense of the candidates.

The Council firmly denounces such actions and assures the public that it has implemented multiple measures to counter these nefarious activities. Furthermore, WAEC is collaborating closely with state security agencies to swiftly apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Council extends its gratitude to the security actors for their unwavering support in combating examination malpractice during the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023, and thereby acknowledges the importance of their continued dedication and emphasizes the critical role they play in safeguarding the integrity of the educational system in the country.

In order to curb this academic malfeasance, WAEC urges the public to play an active role by promptly reporting any instances of examination malpractice. The Council has provided a list of mobile numbers to contact: 0777093933, 0880686862, 0775067658, 0886353624, 0770133015, 0770747124, 0886539130, 0776344245, 0886113457, 0775844186, 0886454619, 0775039626, 0886953980, 0886449774, 0770120347.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat strongly condemns the practice of schools and candidates engaging in “camping” and paying “flexibility fees” to receive assistance before, during, and after the examination.

WAEC warns all parties involved to immediately cease these activities or face the consequences of their actions and reiterates its commitment to upholding its reputation as a world-class examining body that conducts credible examinations in the public interest, not only in Liberia but also in the sub-region.

The Council remains dedicated to promoting the integrity of the educational system and ensuring a fair and transparent assessment process for all candidates.
