Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has confirmed his retirement from boxing, bringing an end to a storied career that saw him become one of the most dominant forces in the sport.

In a brief video shared on his Instagram, the 36-year-old Fury said, “Thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year. Jesus is king now and forever.” He added, “Thanks; it’s been a blast, I enjoyed every minute of it.

“Fury’s retirement comes just weeks after his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December. The loss marked a significant setback for Fury, who had previously announced his retirement multiple times.

The decision to retire also means that the highly anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua will no longer take place. Fury’s retirement brings an end to a career that saw him win the world heavyweight title on multiple occasions and become one of the most recognizable figures in the sport.

Despite his retirement, Fury’s legacy in the world of boxing is cemented, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time.
