Tyla Becomes Second Female African Artist Ever to Achieve this Billboard Milestone

South African singer Tyla has reached a new milestone on the Billboard charts, joining the legendary Miriam Makeba.

Tyla now has two solo songs on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the second African female artist to do this. This confirms her as the highest-charting African female solo artist.

Her song Water reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and now PUSH 2 START, from the deluxe version of her debut album, has also made the chart.

In 1967, Miriam Makeba was the first African woman to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with Pata Pata, which reached No. 12. A few months later, her song Malayisha peaked at No. 85.

Tyla’s success with PUSH 2 START proves she is a rising global star. She is not only popular on the charts but also impresses audiences with her unique style and exciting performances.

On January 18, she performed at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa. Calling it her “favorite show yet,” the concert was streamed live to 44 African countries on Showmax.

Showmax will soon make the concert available on demand for more people to watch. DStv will also air the performance on their channels from February 1 to February 4.
