The late Juice WRLD first released his acclaimed Goodbye & Good Riddance record five years ago. The breakthrough album featured Platinum-certified singles like “All Girls Are The Same” and “Lucid Dreams,” which both defined careers. In terms of assistance, Lil Uzi Vert joined him on “Wasted.”
His estate made the decision yesterday (May 18) to publish a new anniversary edition of the 2018 body of work in order to mark the significant occasion. Two brand-new songs are included in the collection, including “Glo’d Up,” the outro to which Chicaco raps on leaving behind a setting that no longer serves him:
“She tell me that I’m goin’ through the motions, ’cause I ain’t ever showin’ no emotions/ Ayy, I tell her it’s over, it’s over, I done glowed up, I done growed up/ I’m goin’ through the motions, she hate it when I’m goin’ through the motions/ It’s over, it’s over, it’s over, she’s on my phone lookin’ for closure/ Hate when I’m goin’ through the motions”
Fighting Demons, Juice’s second posthumous project and fourth studio album, came before this. Over the course of its 18 tracks, the album featured appearances from BTS member Suga, Trippie Redd, Justin Bieber, and Polo G. With the help of the 119,000 album-equivalent units sold during its first week of release, the project rose to the No. 2 position on the Billboard 200. Five more cuts were included in the official deluxe upgrade that debuted a few months later.
The life and legacy of the “Robbery” rapper was celebrated on his birthday (Dec. 2) last year at the Juice WRLD Day festival Performers included peers like Trippie Redd, Lil Tecca, Ski Mask the Slump God, G Herbo, Cordae, DDG, Lucki, Sleazyworld Go, Bankrol Hayden, and Tana.
