The Best 8 Ayra Starr Songs

From Rush,  Bloody Samaritan, to Heartbreak Anniversary and much more, today we rank the best 8 Ayra Starr songs.

At 22 years old, Ayra Starr has not only reached great heights in her career with milestones such as scoring collaborations with the biggest names, bagging Grammy nominations and touring across the world with stars Coldplay and Chris Brown. This surely marks her as one of the most exciting voices in music as she has soared higher and flown the African music flag higher.

As we wrap up Women’s  Month, as African Entertainment, we are today shifting the spotlight to the self-proclaimed ‘Woman Commando’ Ayra Starr who is still at the top of her game. Her peak is only just taking shape, let’s take a look at some of the most undebatable gems from her audaciously delightful catalogue of hits, show-stoppers, and classics.

Here’s a definitive ranking of Ayra Starr’s most phenomenal songs.

8. ASE

Lifted off the deluxe addition to her 19 & Dangerous album, “Ase” didn’t get much attention initially. However, Ayra Starr’s performance of the song on ColorsXStudios gave the song new life. The fun song damns societal conventions and expectations all delivered in a fun and dance-able way that only Ayra Starr could do. It lands at Number 10 on our ranking.

7. Sability

Sability‘ came at the right time. I mean it was just after her mega hit “Rush”. Produced by London, the Afrobeats number samples “Coupe Bibamba” by Awilo Longomba. The fun and danceable song was greatly enjoyed by fans at clubs and parties. Its accompanying music video was equally fun and fully establishes and gives lore to Ayra’s moniker ‘Sabi Girl.’

6. Away

“Away” was the song that introduced many of us to Ayra Starr. Released as the lead single off her debut EP, “Away” showed that Ayra was the real deal. Slower than the more fast-paced fun Afropop song she’d go on to release, the track is an R&B-infused composition that shows Ayra has range and she is thinking deeply about what she wants to be remembered for and the streets ate it up.

5. “Love Don’t Cost A Dime” with Magixx

Joining her label-mate Magixx on the remix of his track “Love Don’t Cost A Dime,” Ayra showcased that she can create chemistry with anyone. She also provided us with one of the most beautiful love songs to ever grace the African continent.

4. Rush

Rush‘ is undisputably the most iconic Ayra Starr song to be ever made. Having captured the continent’s attention with ‘Bloody Samaritan‘, it was only expected that a mega hit would follow. The chart-topping multi-certified monster hit is a timeless bop.

3. Commas

If there’s anything Ayra Starr is good at, it’s Afro-R&B records that tell a story of grace and success. Released as a lovely gift to fans after bagging a Grammy nomination, ‘Commas‘ classic status is not in doubt.

2. “Last Heartbreak Song” feat Giveon

The shy, introverted lover persona is back. But she’s still assertive enough to express her feelings on Last Heartbreak Song. Duetting it out with one of R&B’s finest GiveonAyra takes ownership and shows us a side we’ve always knew was there somewhere in her. This number is one of the most cherished songs from 2024 from the Sabi Girl.

1. Bloody Samaritan

Bloody Samaritan‘ catapulted Ayra Starr straight to the pinnacle of her career. After this, she was no longer to be seen as just another emerging star, for she it proved her a hitmaker who was going to top herself regularly. ‘Bloody Samaritan’ is considered one of the songs of biggest songs from 2021. It was so huge it got a remix with Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Rowland for the deluxe version of Ayra’s debut album, 19 and Dangerous.
