Spotify Marks Wrapped Campaign with an Unforgettable Party in Lagos

Over the weekend, Lagos was the epicenter of celebration as Spotify hosted its 2024 Wrapped party at Space Hub, Lekki. This star-studded event honored Nigerian music’s global success, wrapping up similar festivities held in Johannesburg and Nairobi.

Guests included media personalities, influencers, and music enthusiasts who came together to celebrate the rise of Afrobeats. The genre saw a 34% increase in global streams on Spotify, while local music consumption skyrocketed by 146%.

Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, remarked on the milestone, saying, “The Wrapped party showcased Nigerian music’s extraordinary growth and global impact. It’s inspiring to see such talent thriving.”

The night was packed with thrilling performances by Nigerian and African artists. Brazy opened with her TikTok hits, while Uganda’s Joshua Baraka dazzled with Dalilah and Digii IV. Rising star Fido previewed his upcoming single Joy Is Coming before delivering his hit Awolowo, and Ayo Maff, one of Nigeria’s most streamed artists, kept the energy high with his chart-toppers.

Breakthrough artists like Zerrydl, Kaestyle, and Deela also shone, delivering unforgettable sets. Morravey captivated the audience with her distinctive sound, and the DJs took it further. Wearethechemicals and Aniko hyped the crowd with EDM beats, while DJ Tunez and DJ YK Mule closed the night with iconic mixes, leaving fans in awe.

This year’s Wrapped party was a testament to the power of music to unite and elevate, underscoring Spotify’s commitment to spotlighting Nigeria’s rich and vibrant music scene.
