West Coast hip-hop icon, Snoop Dogg, has released the video for his new quarantine-themed ballad dubbed: “I Wanna Go Outside.”
The video comes a week after he challenged billionaire rapper, Jay-Z to a VERZUZ Battle.
In the battle, Snoop compared their respective greatest hits.
In the ‘I Wanna Go Outside’ official video,
Snoop is showcased as an ambassador to his neighborhood in the pre-coronavirus world, tapping in with neighbors, running his youth football league and collaborating with other artists like Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh.
The video also features the legendary rapper cooped up in his mansion playing basketball and paying tribute to late Kobe Bryant and getting in extra runs of Madden.
The Soopafly-produced beat pulls heavily from vintage G-funk with some added vocoder thrown in for added nostalgia’s sake.
The song is an upbeat anthem, with some solidarity during the current quarantines as Snoop sings in heavy autotune, “We gone take our time, ain’t no need to rush/ we’ll be back in the sun… It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
