Shatta Wale Drags GHAMRO to the Police for Unpaid Royalties

All hail the king of drama; Dancehall king, Shatta Wale ! It is no longer news that Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale is not one to mess with especially when it comes to his music. On Thursday, the 11th of May, Shatta dragged the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) to the police for unpaid royalties. This comes after the singer issued a strong warning to the organization which fell on deaf ears.

In a Facebook post shared by Shatta, the organization claimed to have paid his royalties to one Rafiq of Bullhaus Entertainment (the singer’s former managers) through a registered MTN mobile money number. He stated:

“I don’t want trouble so that people will say Shatta Wale has done this or that. So I invited the guy and took him to the Legon police station but he said he did not receive any money from GHAMRO via mobile money. The police are currently investigating the matter to determine if Rafiq is telling the truth or otherwise”. He added “The amount should have been paid into my personal account. The amount should be bigger than mobile money because I enjoyed massive patronage in 2013”.
