Seyi Vibez has stood out as the standout artist on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top Songs of 2024 list, with his hit single Different Pattern taking the number-one spot. The track, released in December 2023 as part of his NAHAMciaga EP, dominated streaming charts throughout 2024, including those of Apple Music etc.
Apple Music’s annual list is as part of the Apple Music Replay campaign and highlights the most-streamed songs in Nigeria.
Surprisingly, the 2024 rankings are heavily featuring tracks from 2023. Different Pattern led the charge, followed by Omah Lay’s Holy Ghost in second place, and Cast, a collaboration between Shallipopi and Odumodublvck, securing the third spot.
Kizz Daniel’s viral hit Twe Twe ranked fourth, while Seyi Vibez claimed a second entry in the top five with Cana. Other notable songs in the top 10 include Wizkid’s IDK featuring Zlatan and Chike & Mohbad’s Egwu. TitoM and Yuppe also earned recognition as the only non-Nigerian lead artists in the top 50 with their remix of Tshwala Bam, featuring Burna Boy.
Of the top 20 tracks, 14 were released in 2023, with standout 2024 releases including Burna Boy’s Higher, Ayo Maff & Fireboy DML’s Dealer, Ruger & BNXN’s POE, and Young Jonn’s Bahamas.
2023 songs making a huge presence in the Top 100 this year reflects the challenges Nigerian music faced in 2024, describing the year as underwhelming for fresh hits.
The absence of female artists in the top 20 has also drawn attention, with Ayra Starr’s Bad Vibes featuring Seyi Vibez being the highest-ranking song by a female act at number 24. This has sparked conversations about gender representation in Nigerian music’s mainstream success.
