Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti, son of the late Fela Kuti, has taken aim at Africans who have moved abroad in search of better lives. During a recent Instagram Live session, Seun called out Nigerians, Ghanaians, and other Africans for not being truthful about their experiences overseas.

According to Seun, if Africans living abroad shared more about their challenges, it might stop many people at home from wanting to leave their countries. He emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency in sharing experiences, rather than presenting a façade of perfection.
Seun also criticized those who have been away for a long time, saying they have lost connection with their African heritage. He argued that prolonged absence can lead to a disconnection from one’s cultural roots, which is essential to maintaining a strong sense of identity.
However, Seun also acknowledged that life back home isn’t always better for those who have moved away.
