The 41-year-old Williams’s chances of returning to competitive tennis suddenly seem slim in light of the baby’s arrival.
Adira River Ohanian, a daughter, is the second child born to tennis star Serena Williams.
She and her spouse, Alexis Ohanian, greeted the newcomer on social media on Tuesday.
“Welcome my beautiful angel,” Williams wrote in the caption of a video posted on TikTok.
The video shows her, Ohanian and their four-year-old daughter Olympia embracing the new-born.
“I’m grateful to report our house is teeming with love: a happy and healthy new-born girl and happy and healthy mama. Feeling grateful,” Ohanian posted on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion announced her pregnancy in May and stated that she was “evolving away” from tennis following the U.S. Open. That was in New York on the Met Gala red carpet.
Now that baby number two has been announced, it seems improbable that 41-year-old Williams will return to competitive tennis.
Among the most accomplished athletes to ever pick up a racquet is her.
The couple tied the knot in November 2017 and welcomed their first child, Olympia, in the same year.
