Having archived all his Instagram posts and clearing his feed as a way of setting the tone for his new album, Burna Boy has released a new single, “Update,” from his upcoming eighth album, No Sign of Weakness.

Produced by P2J, “Update” features an African folk drum arrangement and showcases Burna Boy’s signature style as he asserts his superstar status. The accompanying music video, directed by UAX, features Burna Boy performing Fela Kuti-inspired dance moves, complementing his delivery and echoing the Afrobeat icon’s style.

“Update” follows previously released singles “Higher,” which received a Grammy nomination for Best African Song Performance, and “Bundle By Bundle,” released in December 2024.2
Burna Boy recently made history as the first artist to grace the cover of Billboard France Magazine, where he discussed the global success of Nigerian music and his prominent role in it.
With No Sign of Weakness, Burna Boy aims to continue his successful streak, following four consecutive Grammy-nominated albums. He is also the first Nigerian artist to have three albums surpass 500 million Spotify streams.
