Talented Nigerian singer Ruger born Michael Adebayo, recently shared a deeply emotional spiritual experience he had during the New Year’s Eve crossover service at the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Lagos. Known for hits like “Girlfriend,” Ruger prioritized attending the service after missing it for two years due to his international commitments.
The 24-year-old artist revealed that he instructed his manager to cancel all conflicting shows to ensure his attendance. “I told my manager to cancel any shows for the night. I couldn’t miss the crossover service this time,” Ruger said. During the service, he felt a profound connection to God, shedding tears for the first time in four years. “I cried today, and I thank God for letting me experience His presence again,” he shared.
Looking back on the challenges he faced in the past year, Ruger opened up about his struggles with depression and feelings of being lost, in a series of tweets posted to his X (formerly known as Twitter) writing: “I started this year depressed and lost to the extent that I didn’t even have the energy to pray. I’d just sit in front of my altar staring at Jesus’ cross,” he admitted. Despite these difficulties, he credited his resilience to the unwavering support of his team of managers. “They were fighting for me behind the scenes, making sure I didn’t lose deals. They reached out to every promoter to keep me on stage throughout the year,” Ruger explained.
The singer also expressed gratitude to Promised Land Records and Empire’s Mr. Karim for standing by him during critical moments in his career. He highlighted how the multiple collaborations with BNXN helped to showcase his talent in a new light.
Another pivotal moment came when Wizkid publicly praised his song “Make Way.” Ruger reflected, “At this time, I was already labeled a flop after leaving the label. His support really gave me the confidence I needed. It helped me get back on my feet mentally.”
Do you know what it means to publicly get support from the top when you’re at your lowest? Thank you @wizkidayo 🦅

Ruger’s appreciation extended to his producer Kuku Beats and his team at Blown Boy Entertainment and his loyal fans. “To my fans that stayed with me through this time, I love you all. You never stopped loving me. I wish each and every one of you a great 2025,” he said.
His journey to stardom began in 2021 when he signed with Jonzing World Record, affiliated with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. In 2024, he launched his own label, Blown Boy Entertainment, after parting ways with Jonzing World. Over the years, he’s earned accolades such as the AFRIMA Best Newcomer Award in 2021 and the Soundcity MVP Best New Artist title in 2023.
With the start of 2025, the “Bae Bae” hit maker has set ambitious goals for the year. “I’m gonna go harder in 2025. Nothing will stop me. Globally, I will reach the peak. I will stand out on whatever stage I perform. My name shall be mentioned in bigger rooms and higher gatherings. So shall it be. Amen. Thank you, God,” he declared.
Ruger’s heartfelt encounter with God and his determination to rise above challenges have inspired his fans, setting the tone for what promises to be a remarkable year for the young star.
