Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has strongly criticized the Bola Tinubu-led administration for protecting corrupt officials, whom he referred to as “Yahoo people.” Obi expressed his deep concern over Nigeria’s condition, stating that it has become a hub for both internal and external corruption.
In his keynote address at the 4th Graduation ceremony of Nexford University, Obi emphasized that the political elite has turned the country into a crime scene, with theft happening both within and outside of government. He stressed that leadership is about igniting the future, requiring strong character and the ability to make the right choices.
Obi urged the graduates to be catalysts for positive change in their communities, using their education to drive societal change. He acknowledged the challenges faced by young Nigerians, stating that they are victims of a broken system due to the failure of previous generations to act correctly.
The former governor of Anambra State emphasized the critical role of young people in transforming Nigeria and called on them to use their education and skills to lead with integrity, ensuring that the nation is built on accountability and progress.
Obi also reflected on the importance of leadership and youth empowerment for a better future. He stated that the youth should challenge the status quo and take action to shape the future through leadership driven by character, innovation, and a commitment to change.
