The King of Ghana’s Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, has been officially invited to the funeral of late British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Otumfuo was invited by King Charles III through the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

The invitation was sent to the Ghana High Commission accredited to the Court of St. James’s for Otumfuo and his spouse.

The Ghanaian King, per the invitation sighted by African Entertainment, is to attend the lying-in-State of the Queen, her State Funeral Service, King Charles III’s reception and the UK’s Foreign Secretary’s Reception.

Below is the invitation for Otumfuo:

Otumfuo happens to be the second person from Ghana who has been invited for the Queen’s funeral. First to have been invited was President Nana Akufo-Addo. President Akufo-Addo was invited as head of a Commonwealth nation.

African Entertainment is still looking to see whether other Ghanaian royals such as the Okyenhene the Tribal King of Akyem Abuakwa, an old powerful traditional kingdom in the Eastern Region of Ghana, will be invited for the Queen’s funeral.

African Entertainment understands that invitations have been sent to all leaders of the various Commonwealth nations.

A BBC report sighted by www.africanentertainment.com says the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern; the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese; and the Prime Minister of Canda, Justin Trudeau, have all confirmed their attendance at the Queen’s funeral.

Also, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, the royal families of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, Belgium’s King Phillippe and Queen Mathilde, as well as President Joe Biden of the US and First Lady Jill Biden, have confirmed their attendance.

Queen Elizabeth II died aged 96 on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The longest-serving monarch in the history of the UK, whose reign lasted 70 years, is expected to be buried on Monday, September 19, 2022.
