Yesterday, we brought you reports that the National Broadcasting Commission put a ban on latest singles by Olamide, Davido and 9ice. Well for “Wo”; Olamide’s currently trending single, this is bad news and from what we hear, the rave song was banned because of a single scene in the video of a man smoking a bluff. That scene according to the commission violates the country’s ban on Tobacco consumption.
Olamide has however responded to the NBC’s ban with a tweet:
No intentions of promoting tobacco to get people killed, I love my people, I love my country, one love , one Nigeria #ClearTheAir ??Oya Wo !

The tweet thread also shows that the Ministry of Health who probably called for the ban had a phone conversation prior to Olamide’s tweet.
While Olamide’s “Wo” might be understandable, how about 9ice’s “Living things”, Davido’s “If” and “Fall” that have long trended. How effective is a ban on them at a point when the songs have slowly faded out?
