The world football governing body, FIFA, has insisted that there will not be any cut in investment worth £804m for women’s football despite the financial crisis posed by coronavirus.
The investment was earlier announced for 2019 to 2022.
It aims to clear funds to support any relief effort.
A FIFA spokesperson is reported to have told The Guardian: “We can confirm that this funding has already been committed by FIFA and will not be impacted by the current COVID-19 crisis.”
“This funding will be invested into a range of areas in the women’s game including competitions, capacity building, development programmes, governance and leadership, professionalisation and technical programmes.”
