Nigerians are looking forward to 7 emphatic Afcon wins for Super Eagles  – Buhari

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that Nigerians are hoping for their national football team, the Super Eagles to win the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2021).

He made this known after Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau.

Nigeria topped her group with nine points after winning all her three games.

The Super Eagles opened their Afcon 2021 campaign with a 1-0 win over the Pharoahs of Egypt.

They went on to beat Sudan 3-1 in their second match.

On Wednesday night, January 19, 2022 the Super Eagles won Guinea-Bissau, clinching nine points in all and most importantly showcasing that they are serious contenders for the Afcon title.

In a Facebook post following Nigeria’s win over Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Mr Buhari congratulated the “Super Eagles on winning all their three games and advancing to the second round of the AFCON in grand style.”

He urged them “to maintain and even surpass the terrific form that has made them leaders in the group stage, and to remain good ambassadors of Nigeria on and off the field.”

“The entire country looks forward with hope to a total of SEVEN emphatic wins in this competition. Three down, four to go!,” Mr Buhari added.

“They are assured of my unflinching support as they soar like the Eagles that they are to write yet another brilliant chapter in the unfolding story of Nigerian football.”
