Nigerian airports to remain closed for 4 more weeks amid Coronavirus

As Nigeria continues to battle the novel coronavirus, the country’s government has disclosed that its airspace will remain closed for at least four more weeks.

In a media briefing on Wednesday, May 6, the Chairman of the presidential task force on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha revealed that the airspace ban requires more time due to the risk of the virus.

“We have assessed the situation in the aviation industry and have come to the conclusion that given the facts available to us and based on the advice of experts, the ban on all flights will be extended for an additional four weeks,” he said.

Recall that President Buhari announced the closure of all airports to all international flights on March 21, 2020. Two extensions have been announced since then.
