NIGERIA SET TO HOST HER MAIDEN EDITION OF WEST AFRICAN FOOD FESTIVAL (WAFFEST) 2023 IN AUGUST.

The national president of the association of professional chefs of Nigeria ( APCN), Chef Paulinus Okon has announced the hosting of the WAFFEST 2023 festival in Nigeria.

Chef Paulinus Okon made this known to the media that the 5th Series of the 2023 West African Food Festival (WAFFEST) /Jollof Rice Competition will be hosted in Nigeria, on the 9th of August, 2023.

The APCN president, Chef Okon said that the event will commence on the 9th of August (welcome party and dinner night with the guests), On the 10th (There will be a factory tour), the on the 11th ( The opening ceremony of the program).

The event which has been hosted by Ghana 3 times after it inception in 2011, followed by Liberia hosting it once, while the Nigeria 2023 edition, will be hosted at the prestigious Protea Hotel Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos.

Further speaking at the conference, Chef Okon said that Nigeria is hosting the event for the first time to give the Nigerian Women, the opportunities to meet Chef leaders and mentors, and as well showcase the power of the women in the series of meals and catering flavours.

The theme of the maiden edition in Nigeria, is “Preserving West African Flavour; the Chefs Roles in Sustainable Tourism”. The event will play around different flavours of jollof rice from different countries in Africa, Also to encourage how to eat well and healthy.

It has been confirmed that there are countries that will be participating at the WAFFEST event. 

The list of the countries are Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Congo, Lesotho, South Africa, Rwandan, Senegal , Cote d’Ivoire  and Netherlands.

The event is proudly sponsored by Maggi ( lead sponsorship), Tasty Tum , Friesland, also there’s a collaboration with Nigeria tourism authority.
