Mother of George Floyd’s Daughter Demands Justice in New Video

The mother of George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Roxie Washington, addressed pressmen in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

In the company of her attorney, daughter Gianna Floyd and Stephen Jackson, a close friend of Floyd’s, Roxie gave a teary speech about what Gianna has lost due to the actions of the policemen who sadly returned to their families after killing George.

“I want everybody to know what these officers took. At the end of the day, they get to go home and be with their families. Gianna does not have a father. He will never see her grow up, graduate. He will never walk her down the aisle. If there’s a problem she’s having and she needs her dad, she does not have that anymore.”

Recounting Floyd’s reaction when Gianna was born, Roxie shared: “He slept the whole time that I went through labour, but when he heard her cry, he got up. I still have a picture of him waking up and getting his baby.” She added, “He loved her. He loved her so much.”

Washington also cleared the air surrounding Floyd’s move from Houston to Minneapolis which she revealed was to find profitable work. Floyd was a bouncer until his death in May.

The latest press conference follows the report that the state of Minnesota had launched a civil rights investigation of the Minneapolis Police Department in hopes of effecting changes to curb the recurring deaths.

46-year-old Floyd died after Derek Chauvin, a police officer pressed his knees into Floyd’s neck for nearly 10 minutes, even after he became unresponsive.

Derek has since been charged while four others sacked while investigations continue.

So far, people have donated over $90,000 to a GoFundMe account set up for Gianna Floyd.
