Senegal’s international, Sadio Mane, has been adjudged the African Player of the Year.
This is the second time the Bayern Munich’s footballer is winning the Continental award.
Mane beat competitions from fellow Senegalese, Eduord Mendy of Chelsea, as well as Egypt and Liverpool’s forward, Mohammed Salah.
The awards ceremony was held on Thursday evening, July 21, 2022, in Morocco.
Mane won the delayed 2021 African Cup of Nations with Senegal in Cameroon earlier this year. He led Senegal to a historic victory against Egypt in the final.
He went on to aid Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League final in Paris, France.
He has also been tipped to be a contender for the Ballon d’Or.
