Mohamed Salah was virtually left in tears as his Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane scored the winning penalty against in the Afcon 2021 final.
Senegal and Egypt finished the match 0 – 0 and proceeded to penalties after extra 30 minutes.
Mane had missed Senegal’s first penalty in the 3rd minute of the match after an Egyptian player brought down an Egyptian player in the box.
But a super save from Chelsea’s goalkeeper during the penalty kicks gave Senegal the advantage.
Mane then stepped forward to take the winning penalty at which time Salah was seen already weeping.
It was a moment of joy as Mane scored, bringing Senegal’s 42 years Africa Cup of Nations title drought to a glorious and joyous end.
The final of Afcon 2021 kicked off around 7pm on Sunday night February 6, in Cameroon.
Senegal were Afcon finalists in 2002 when the tournament was hosted by Mali. In 2019, they made it to the final once again but lost to Algeria.

Mane was adjudged the best player of the Afcon 2021.
Cameroon’s striker, Aboubakar won the golden boots as the highest Goalscorer of the tournament.
Senegal’s Eduoud Mendy emerged the best goalkeeper of the Afcon 2021.
