Maguire receives bomb threat after Man United’s humiliating 4 – 0 defeat to Liverpool

Manchester United and England Footballer, Harry Maguire, has reportedly received a bomb threat to his home.

Multiple British media reports monitored by African Entertainment indicate that he received the threat to his family home on Wednesday.

Reports say Cheshire police launched an investigation into the threat and has since establised that the Manchester United captain was sent an emailed warning.

A report by The Guardian sighted by African Entertainment said on Thursday afternoon, police officers and an explosives dog attended Maguire’s home.

Maguire is said to be living with his fiancee, Fern Hawkins, and their two children.

In a statement, Cheshire police indicated that “On Wednesday 20 April, Cheshire police were called to reports of a bomb threat at an address in the Wilmslow area. No evacuations took place, but as a precautionary measure a police explosives dog has attended the address this afternoon, Thursday 21 April, to conduct a search of the gardens and surrounding area.”

A spokesperson for Maguire was quoted as saying that “In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home. He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter. The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority. He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture [at Arsenal] as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”

The threat comes after Man United were defeated 4 – 0 by Liverpool in their Premier League clash, dealing a big blow for their hopes of qualifying for next season UEFA Champions League.

On the past few months, especially in the wake of Manchester United’s poor form, Maguire has been the subject of abuse from fans in stadiums and on social media.

He has specifically been targeted by fans for  his ‘poor’ form for Manchester United.
