Lil Wayne Announced As Addition To 2023 MTV ‘Video Music Awards’ Performers Lineup

The second batch of international performers for the forthcoming awards presentation has been revealed by the MTV Video Music Awards. Rap legend Lil Wayne, who debuted on the MTV program more than ten years ago, is among the list of acts that will be appearing in the upcoming round of performances. This year, Wayne, a 14-time nominee for the Video Music Awards, is up for Best Hip-Hop VMA.

Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER are also included on the list. On Tuesday, September 12 at 8 p.m. ET, the Video Music Awards show will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

Anitta won the Best Latin VMA award the previous year. In 2022, Doja Cat won for Best Choreography. Ballerini, a rising star in country music, will attend the VMAs for the first time this year on her 30th birthday. She performs a song from her EP Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good) during her debut performance. During their VMA performance, the K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER is also planning to debut a brand-new song.

Demi Lovato, Karol G, Stray Kids, and Mneskin were also included in the first round of performers for the MTV VMAs, which will air on September 12.

Taylor Swift, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, and Kim Petras are among the acts nominated at the female-dominated 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), according to the list of nominees for the ceremony. Shakira will also be given the MTV Video Vanguard Award this year.

With eight nominations, Swift leads the field, followed by SZA with six, Cyrus, Petras, Nicki Minaj, Rodrigo, Doja Cat, and Sam Smith with five each. Shakira, Diddy, and the South Korean pop group BLACKPINK all received four.

The majority of the nominees for the night’s top award, Video of the Year, are women: Cyrus for “Flowers,” Swift for “Anti-Hero,” SZA for her breakthrough single “Kill Bill,” Rodrigo for her most recent single “vampire,” Minaj for “Super Freaky Girl,” Doja Cat for “Attention,” and Smith and Petras’ groundbreaking collaboration, “Unholy.” With the latter song, Petras and Smith became the first transgender women and non-binary artists, respectively, to achieve a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
