We can say categorically that there is more to Liberian music star, DenG than a pair of dark shades, a handsome face and amazing vocals. Again and again, the singer has proved that he has a large heart and understands the plight of his fans more than anyone else.
You would recall that we brought you reports that the singer alongside his record label AEMG took to the slums and ghettos of Monrovia to feed the hungry some weeks ago. It appears that DenG is not over his humanitarian service as just recently, he took his team to another part of Monrovia where he offered not just a warm plate but also a listening ear.
For the homeless whom we spoke with, DenG’s project was right on time as many had not had proper food or a shower in days running into weeks and perhaps, months.
We also got an opportunity to chat with the messiah of the moment and this was what he had to say: “They are one of us, I can relate to their struggle and pain. When the homeless come to see me, then are looking for more than the entertainment or the food we provide, they are looking for a way out of their troubles and a path to a better future. They are looking for hope, for a voice and a chance back into society.
I have made it my mission seek support for our needy not only to eventually provide basic needs like food and shelter, but also emotional and spiritual assistance so individuals can get back on their feet.
My prayer is that with the help of our government, ordinary citizens and community leaders someday we can offer our homeless a safe and tranquil environment to live.”
He added that the government need to step in and help rehabilitate the city’s homeless and at the same time urged his fellow celebrities to support the needy in the society. “This people need help rather than marginalization” DenG said.
