Liberia Beaten 3-0 By Egypt In Int’l Friendly

The senior national team of Liberia was on Tuesday night, beaten by Egypt 3-0 in a friendly match at the Alexandria Stadium.

Egypt won its second straight international friendly with a goal and an assist from Omar Marmoush. Marmoush, a winger for Wolfsburg, scored Egypt’s first goal seven minutes before halftime, making him the best player for Egypt on the night.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Ahly’s center-back Mohamed Abdel-Moneim also headed in one of his corners. Turkish striker Ahmed Kouka, who otherwise wasted several opportunities, then scored a stoppage-time penalty to complete the whitewash.

Due to goalie Tommy Songo, who was subsequently replaced in the second half by Boison Wynney, the Lone Star may have given up more than one goal in the opening period.

With no shots on goal for the whole 90 minutes, Kojo and his team appeared to be on a defensive mission to concede fewer goals. Out of seven encounters, it was the Pharaohs’ sixth triumph over Liberia.

After playing to a scoreless draw against Niger, interim coach Thomas Kojo and his team are heading home with a tie and a loss from two friendlies.

The Pharaohs, under new coach Vitoria, recorded the 3-0 victory in the absence of star player Mohamed Salah who was rested for Tuesday’s match.

However, Egypt defeated Niger 3-0 in their first match with Salah scoring a brace.
