Lewandowski Named FIFA Best Men’s Player after Messi’s controversial Ballon d’Or win


Poland and Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski has been adjudged The FIFA Best Men’s Player after Argentine Lionel Messi controversially won the Ballon d’Or award for the seventh time.

Lewandowski received the award on Monday night, January 17, 2022.

In a post sighted by African Entertainment on his official Facebook page, Lewandowski said congratulated other award winners including Cristiano Ronaldo who was adjudged FIFA top Goalscorer of all time.

“Receiving The FIFA Best Men’s Player award tonight is a massive honor for me. It is an incredible feeling 🤩”, Lewandowski wrote.

“We dedicate our lives to improving, excelling, and reaching new heights 💪✌️We push our bodies to the limit for our team, our coach, and the fans 🙏”

“Football is the world’s sport. It’s unlike any other in the way it connects people. It’s a language understood on every continent 🌍.”

“As players we have a responsibility to represent the values of the game – fair play, respect, and sportsmanship 🤜🤛 And I’m proud to do so – for club FC Bayern München 🔴⚪️ and country 🇵🇱 Łączy nas piłka.”

Many were those who felt Lewandowski was the right candidate to win the last Ballon d’Or awarded to Messi.

Messi lifted the award at the ceremony held at the Theatre du Chatelet, in Paris on Monday, November 29, 2021.

Lewandowski emerged the second best player in the world at the last Ballon d’Or award.

PSG star, Kylian Mbappe was adjudged the 9th best player in the world.
