Lebanese dance Troupe wins $1 million prize at America’s Got Talent

An all-female Lebanese dance troupe, Mayyas, has emerged the ultimate winner of the popular U.S television show, America’s Got Talent.

Mayyas won the $1 million prize and has been offered the chance to headline a Las Vegas show.

They won after receiving the most votes from the American public, beating the other 10 finalists.

In their social media post after their victory, Mayyas dedicated their win to Lebanon, saying “Lebanon, this one’s for you.”

Mayyas mesmerized viewers of the America’s Got Talent snow with their Arabesque dance moves and free-flowing choreography which was set against highly creative visual effects.

According to the troupe, their name had come from the Arabic word for “the proud walk of a lioness.”

In the grand finale of the America’s Got Talent show monitored by www.africanentertainment.com, judges of the show, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara, heaped praises on the group, describing their performances as “astonishing” and “mesmerizing”.

“Absolutely mesmerizing #AGT”, judge Mandel says in a Tweet sighted by www.africanentertainment.com.

Mayyas are the first Arab performers to win at America’s Got Talent.

At the grand finale, Mayyas’ members had on golden face masks, white feathered belly-dancer outfits, and carried sparkling globes of light as they performed their final act.

The group was founded by choreographer Nadim Cherfan.

Mayyas had previously won the ultimate prize at Arabs Got Talent’s season six in 2019.
