In the latest development on the Diddy case, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in jail, could face more than 10 new civil lawsuits in the coming days. According to the BBC, lawyer Tony Buzbee, who represents many of Combs’ accusers, made this announcement while filing another lawsuit against the rapper.
The new lawsuit, filed in New York, comes from a man who says Combs assaulted him in 2015. At the time, the man was 23 and had performed at a nightclub where Combs was present, hoping to get signed to his record label, Bad Boy Records. The lawsuit claims that after his performance, he was invited to an afterparty, where he was given a drink that made him feel dizzy and lose consciousness. While drifting in and out, he allegedly saw Combs and his entourage engaging in sexual acts with people who appeared drugged or unconscious. The accuser says he later woke up to being assaulted by Combs and was threatened when he tried to leave.
Combs has strongly denied all allegations, which include claims of drugging, assault, and rape. His spokesperson has not yet responded to this latest lawsuit.
In addition to these civil cases, Combs is facing federal charges for racketeering and sex trafficking, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He remains in a New York jail awaiting trial.
Buzbee, who has been involved in multiple cases against Combs, says he will file at least 10 more lawsuits within the next week. This is because a special New York law that allows victims of past sexual assault to file lawsuits—regardless of when the incident happened—will expire on March 1.
Combs is already facing more than 30 civil lawsuits related to sexual misconduct.
