Lagos state government to enforce wearing face masks

Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the state will commence a compulsory use of face masks.

The announcement was made on Monday, April 20 and is reportedly a new response to the Covid-19 outbreak in Nigeria. The enforcement is billed to commence from next week.

Sanwo-Olu further confirmed that 1 million locally-made face masks have already been commissioned and will be in circulation in time for the enforcement. He also revealed that the state will begin prosecuting patients who lie about their travel history to health workers.

Lagos state is the worst hit by the novel virus with 376 confirmed cases since the outbreak in March.
