Kenyan Police kill 3 persons demonstrating against wildlife attacks

Police in Kenya have reportedly killed three persons who were protesting against wildlife attacks.

Local media reports say a team from the Kenyan paramilitary police (the GSU) opened fire on a crowd that was protesting against wildlife attacks.

The protest was said to be taking place in Masimba area.

The protesters were said to have blocked the main road connecting the capital, Nairobi, to the coastal city of Mombasa, on Thursday.

According to Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, “local communities are getting frustrated by the loss of human lives to wildlife”.

The Governor tweeted “The police should desist from using excessive force when trying to maintain law and order in circumstances like today’s… These deaths could have been avoided with a little more understanding,”
