A successful joint security operation has resulted in the rescue of Reverend Father Stephen Echezona, who was abducted at a fuel station in Ichida, Anambra State. The rescue team, comprising the Police, Military, Civil Defence, Ichida Vigilante Group, and Ihiala, engaged in a gunfight with the armed criminals, ultimately forcing them to abandon the priest and flee.
The victim was returned unharmed, thanks to the swift and coordinated response of the security agencies. The incident highlights the effectiveness of the joint security efforts in Anambra State.
In a related development, the Anambra State Police Command has been working to address complaints of robbery and phone theft along Club Road Awka. As part of these efforts, police operatives arrested two suspected robbers, Chibuike Ozoekwem and Favour Patrick, and recovered a pump-action gun, expended cartridges, a battle axe, and suspected stolen phones.
The police have expanded their investigation to arrest other gang members and will communicate further details to the public as they become available.
