Ghanaian musician Diana Hamilton has revealed that he will never be able to minister the popular twi “Nyansa boakwa Nyame” song again.
The 2021 VGMA Artiste of the Year said she has never and would never be able to tell the “Nyansa boakwa Nyame” story twice. According to her “Nyansa boakwa Nyame” was a classic spontaneous time of worship. The song came to the limelight again during her “Experience” worship concert in Kumasi; prior to that, she ministered to the same song in Accra however it did not get the traction Kumasi’s version got.
Speaking to Rev. Thompson Sakyi on the Church Groove on Class 91.3FM, she noted, “So I will I have never and I will never be able to minister Nyansa boakwa Nyame the way I ministered it on this night. I can’t, I can’t do that! You cannot retell that story twice. If you want to know what spontaneity is, Nyansa boakwa Nyame is your classic spontaneous time of worship and so yeah you canrehearsesed that’s why I’m just grateful to God that we were able to capture it because sometimes you might miss it but I’m just grateful to God that he did what he did but we’re able to capture it.“
Mrs. Hamilton further revealed “But every day I minister that song, He deals with us differently on that particular day; that’s what trusting in God and relying on Him does. You don’t have to create an atmosphere, cook it up, then it’s not spontaneous. However, there are some songs we would rehearse, we will rehearse most songs and then leave the rest to God then take it and do what He wants to do with it. So we knew we would do Nyansa boakwa Nyame, did we know I was going to fit in my mom‘s example and ask Chairman Opoku Onyina for permission? No, I didn’t rehearse those. The songs that followed did I rehearse those? No, I didn’t. To be honest I did that song in Accra before Kumasi because Accra is always number one however Kumasi’s experience was different”.
