Health Expert Backs Return Of Sports In Zambia

A health expert, Dr Lwipa Puma, has reportedly given greenlight for the return of sporting events in Zambia.

He is believed to have said that Covid-19 mortality rate in Zambia has not been as bad as previously projected.

Dr Puma, a Heath Systems Management Specialist, says Covid-19 statistics from the Ministry of Health have shown that the disease is manageable in Zambia.

Zambia’s Ministry of Health, has reported thay 779 people have so far recovered from the virus out of 1057 cases of Covid-19 recorded.

There are reportedly seven deaths related to the virus and some 271 active cases.

According to Dr. Puma who was a deputy Health Minister of Zambia, “Is it necessary to continue to pretend that Covid-19 is dangerous and lethal? Let’s go back to old normal.”

He added that “Allow all games to start without subjecting players and fans to wearing masks.”

“The only people who should wear masks and self isolate are those that are symptomatic to avoid active spreading of this non-lethal Covid-19 infection.”

He added that “In other words let’s go back to old normal since we have all seen that Covid-19 is not lethal to us as earlier portrayed.”

The Football Association of Zambia is reportedly planning to restart the
2019/20 season in three weeks time.
