The 17th edition of the Headies Awards has been rescheduled from its original date of April 5th to April 27th, 2025, due to unforeseen circumstances, as announced by the Headies Academy. This adjustment comes as the ceremony prepares to return to Nigeria after two consecutive editions held in the United States.
In a statement released on March 22nd via their official social media channels, the Academy expressed regret for any inconvenience caused, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a “befitting ceremony” for all stakeholders. They reiterated their dedication to providing an “unforgettable evening of music, glamour, and excitement” on the new date.
The nominations for the 17th Headies, previously unveiled, feature Rema, OdumoduBlvck, Tems, and Ayra Starr leading the pack. However, the nomination list has also sparked reactions due to notable omissions and allegations of the Headies Academy deviating from its own eligibility guidelines.
Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun recently voiced concerns about declining support for the Headies, noting the growing popularity of the Grammy Awards in Nigeria.
