Global Citizen Explains Why the Move Afrika tour couldn’t be held Ghana this year

Global Citizen yesterday revealed that the 2025 Move Afrika tour will make stops in Kigali and Lagos, with acclaimed American singer John Legend headlining the much-anticipated events. The performances are scheduled for February 21 at the BK Arena in Kigali and February 25 at The Palms in Lagos.

The Move Afrika tour, a collaborative initiative between Global Citizen and Kendrick Lamar’s creative agency, pgLang, aims to empower Africa’s younger generations by creating economic opportunities through the power of live music and cultural exchange.

While Ghana was initially expected to be part of this year’s tour, organizers disclosed that logistical challenges prevented an Accra show from materializing in time. However, they reaffirmed their dedication to including Ghana in future editions of Move Afrika.

“While we had hoped to bring the Move Afrika tour to Ghana this year, the timeline needed to make an Accra show possible could not be achieved. We remain committed to Ghana and its people and look forward to bringing Move Afrika to Ghana as soon as possible,” said a statement from the organizers.

As the tour draws closer, excitement is building among fans across the continent, with Kigali and Lagos preparing to host unforgettable evenings of music, inspiration, and opportunities for change.
