Ghana’s President Self-Isolates As Coronavirus Infects Top Ministers, Government Officials

Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, is self-isolating for 14-day self-Isolation over coronavirus fears.

Information Minister of Ghana, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah made the announcement in a statement dated July 4, 2020.

According to the statement, the decision is in compliance with coronavirus protocols.

The statement says the President has elected to do so after at least one person within his close circle tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

The name of the person who tested positive was not mentioned.

However, the statement says Mr Akufo-Addo has tested negative but in line with caution, he is self-isolating.

A number of top Ghanaian Government officials have either tested positive for coronavirus or died from the virus.

Mayor of Ghana’s Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan, K.K. Sam, and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, recently died from coronavirus.

Ghana’s Deputy Trade Minister, Carlos Ahenkora, Minister for Reorganization and Development, Dan Botwe, Campaign Manager for the ruling NPP, Peter Mac Manu, CEO of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Dsane-Selby, Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, have all tested positive for coronavirus.
