FBI Raid Former President Trump’s Florida Home

Ex-President of the United States (US) has complained of his home being raided by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to Mr. Trump in a statement, the agents broke open a safe.

He noted in the statement that Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach was “occupied by a large group of FBI agents”.

Multiple American media reports monitored by African Entertainment say the search was connected to an investigation into Mr Trump’s handling of official papers.

But Mr. Trump indicated in his statement that “These are dark times for our nation,” adding that “Nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States before.”

An unnamed law enforcement official reportedly informed CBS News that the Secret Service was notified shortly before the warrant was served around 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT), and that agents protecting Mr Trump helped the FBI investigators.

The source reportedly indicated that many boxes were taken away and that no doors were kicked down and that the raid had concluded by the late afternoon.

African Entertainment understands that American presidents are required by the Presidential Records Act (PRA) to transfer all of their letters, work documents and emails to the National Archives (NA).

In February 2022, the National Archives indicated that it had retrieved 15 boxes of papers from Mar-a-Lago, which Mr Trump should have turned over when he left the White House, informing Congress the boxes included “items marked as classified national security information”.
