A father and son have been arrested in connection to the alleged murder of an African-America jogger.
After a nationwide outcry led by US celebrities, Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested and charged Gregory McMichael and son, Travis McMichael with the murder and aggravated assault of Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old African American jogging unarmed.
Arbery was fatally shot in February by the white father and son who confronted him with two firearms as he jogged on the coastal city of Brunswick early in the afternoon of February 23. Travis McMichael, 34, allegedly opened fire on Arbery.
According to a Police statement, Gregory McMichael admitted to shooting Arbery because he resembled a suspect in a series of break-ins.
Arbery’s death sparked nationwide outrage with celebrities sharing the 25-year-old’s photos and demanding for immediate charges against the McMichaels. Stars like Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union, Lebron James, Viola Davies joined the social media protests.
