Epixode, a Ghanaian reggae dancehall recording artist, creative director, and fine artist who was born Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, has admitted that 80 percent of his agreements are not for financial gain.
The charismatic performer revealed to Kwame Dadzie that many of his engagements have gained benefits that go beyond financial compensation.
“That one go hard, because you know our system, sometimes some of the negotiations we do doesn’t come with money, the relationships are even bigger than the money sometimes, so if I’m looking at it from that perspective, I’ll say I’ve actually gained more things that are even bigger than the money that I have charged.
“Since we dropped ‘Atia’ it’s been much better than ‘come and pass,'” he continued.
And keep in mind that some of us work in industries other than music. “I’m a painter and an artist, I do videos, I do graphics, and I work in other industries that even are not attributed to the Epixode brand,” he added.
