ENDEE CONDEMNS LOFA VIOLENCE -URGES LIBERIANS TO PRIORITIZE PEACE

Liberia’s Culture Ambassador Juli Endee has in the strongest term condemned Friday’s violence in Foya, Lofa County.

Both the CDC and Unity Party are trading blames for the clashes between their rival supporters which reportedly resulted to the death of two persons.

In a statement issued Sunday, Ambassador Endee said such violence should have no place in a democratic space where contestation of ideas should be the hallmark of the process.

The Liberia Crusaders for Peace Executive Director believe, no amount of political contestation should result to such violence, least to say loss of human lives.

She is therefore calling on the joint security to conduct a speedy investigation into the matter and bring those involved to justice to face the full weight of the law.

Ambassador Endee wants political parties and their supporters to respect the Farmington Declaration, committing themselves to a peaceful and non-violent election.

The Farmington Declaration is a Communique signed by Liberian Political Parties on April 4, 2023, in which they all agreed to avoid violent confrontations, respect the will of the people, conduct peaceful campaign and use the courts to seek redress for grievances.

The Culture Ambassador believes, both Liberians and the International Community are holding Political Parties accountable for their own commitment made earlier this year in Margibi County.

Meanwhile the Liberia Crusaders for Peace Office in Lofa is observing and reporting on the situation in Foya District.

Culture Ambassador Juli Endee is a leading Advocate and campaigner for Peace, using her mobilizing skills to successfully ease potential threats to the country and its people over the years.
