Davido continues to gear up for the release of his fifth studio album, titled “5ive.” In a recent Twitch stream with Cruel Santino, he explained that the album’s title directly reflects its position in his discography. “It’s my fifth album,” he stated, following the releases of “A Good Time,” “A Better Time,” and the critically acclaimed “Timeless.”
While the title “5ive” might seem straightforward, Davido suggested that exploring the significance of the number five could reveal deeper meanings. He recently released the single “Be There Still” on March 14th, showcasing his signature blend of Amapiano rhythms, Pidgin, and English lyrics, further solidifying his superstar status.
“5ive” is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025. This year has already been eventful for Davido, highlighted by his fifth Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his contribution to Chris Brown’s “Sensational.” He also received five nominations at the upcoming 17th Headies Awards, reinforcing his position as one of the most decorated artists in the award’s history.
Leading up to the album’s release, Davido has dropped two additional singles: “Awuke” featuring YG Marley, and “Funds” featuring Chike and OdumoduBlvck. In a social media announcement, he described “5ive” as a project “straight from the heart.”
The album is also anticipated to feature a collaboration with Omah Lay, who described their joint track as a “perfect partnership.” Furthermore, Adekunle Gold has hinted at a possible guest appearance. Fans are eagerly anticipating “5ive” to replicate the success of Davido’s record-breaking fourth album, “Timeless.”
