British-Nigerian artist Darkoo has made shocking allegations against Peter Okoye of P-Square, claiming that he had her music video taken down from YouTube for six days due to his unreasonable requests.
According to Darkoo, her song “Focus on Me” samples P-Square’s 2009 hit “Gimme Dat”, for which she obtained the necessary clearances and agreed to give the duo 50% royalties. However, Darkoo alleges that Peter Okoye made additional demands, including a feature on the song, despite her initial willingness to feature him in the remix.
Darkoo expressed her disappointment and hurt on social media, stating that Peter Okoye’s actions were “heartbreaking” and “incredibly painful”, given her admiration for him as an artist. In a stark contrast, Darkoo praised Peter Okoye’s brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye, for their civil and professional dealings with her.
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with fans and industry professionals weighing in on the issue.
