The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of dancer Lil Smart, whose real name is Idowu Smart Emmanuel, for cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading false information against singer Naira Marley.
According to the police statement, Lil Smart was arrested at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, last month, following a petition filed by a law firm. The police also recovered key evidence linked to the crime during the arrest.
Investigations revealed that Lil Smart had fabricated claims of being abducted and assaulted, using his Instagram handle @lilsmart_ to spread the false information.
The arrest has sparked widespread reactions, with many following the developments closely. Renowned Nollywood producer, Stanley Ontop, had earlier revealed Lil Smart’s arrest and detention, causing a stir on social media.
The police statement read: “Following a petition filed by a law firm, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Unit arrested… Lil Smart for criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Abdulazeeza Adeshina Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley)“.
