The Minister of Gender and Culture, Peace Mutuuzo, has announced the dates for the elections of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).
According to the Minister, she was finalizing preparations of the elections of the Uganda Musicians Association.
Her announcement comes on the back of recent pressure from a section of musicians in Uganda, demanding for a report in regards to the progress of the UMA currently under the old stewardship of singer Cindy Sanyu.
It would be recalled that elections initially scheduled to take place three months ago at the National Theatre were postponed by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development to a yet to be communicated date.
According to Madam Mutuuzo, her Ministry was in the process of registering all musicians across Uganda, including the upcoming so as to get a chance of electing an official leader of their choice.
She added that as her ministry strategies how to get funds that will facilitate the next UMA elections, artistes will have to wait for an official voting date that will be soon communicated.
