President Nana Akufo-Addo has described as malicious and false, the claims that late President John Fiifi Evans Atta Mills’ tomb has been desecrated.
Mr. Akufo-Addo replied the Mills’ family when he commissioned the refurbished Asomdwee Park, an occasion which marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Mr. Mills. Tje celebration took place in Accra on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
According to Mr. Akufo-Addo, “There have been unfortunate accusations levelled by some persons against Government about the supposed desecration of the tomb of the late President in the process of rehabilitating the Park.”
He stated that “Nothing could be further from the truth, and it is good to note that these false, malicious statements have been firmly dispelled and debunked by the Coastal Development Authority, through the agency of its CEO, Mr. Jerry Ahmed Schaib, in a public statement under his hand.”
It would be recalled that the
brother of Mr Atta Mills, Samuel Atta Mills, alleged recently that the government of Ghana has allowed the Atta Mills Institute to tamper with the grave of the late President.
He stated the current arrangement was against customs.
Samuel Atta Mills noted that “It is not proper to allow the NGO to make changes to the grave without recourse to the family.”
